Post-Publication Correction and Retraction Policy

The Journal of Excellence in Management Sciences (JEMs) is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. JEMs follow COPE guidelines for post-publication changes to ensure transparency and uphold research standards.

Correction Notices

  • Corrections are issued when errors require clarification but do not invalidate the findings.
  • Erratum: Published for errors introduced by the journal (e.g., formatting mistakes, typographical errors).
  • Corrigendum: Published for errors introduced by the authors (e.g., data miscalculations, mislabeling of figures/tables).

Both notices:

  • Are bidirectionally linked to the original article.
  • Clearly describe the nature of the error and its correction.

Retractions

Retractions are issued when a published article contains invalid results or ethical breaches that undermine the validity of the findings.

  • Grounds for Retraction:
  • Invalid results due to honest error (e.g., irreproducible findings).
  • Misconduct (e.g., data fabrication, plagiarism, unethical research practices).
  • Retraction Notice:
  • Explains the rationale for retraction (e.g., error type or misconduct).
  • Is bidirectionally linked to the original article.
  • The retracted article remains accessible but is marked as retracted.

Expressions of Concern

Issued when serious concerns arise about the integrity or validity of a published article, but conclusive evidence is pending.

The notice is:

  • Linked to the original article.
  • Updated or replaced with a Correction or Retraction once the investigation concludes.

Withdrawal Policy

  • Pre-Publication Withdrawal:
  • Authors may request withdrawal of a submission during the review process, subject to editorial approval.
  • Withdrawn manuscripts are removed from the system and not published.
  • Post-Publication:
  • Published articles cannot be removed. Corrections or retractions are used instead to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Process and Transparency

  • Decision-Making:
  • The Editor-in-Chief reviews all post-publication changes in consultation with the editorial board and, where necessary, institutional bodies.
  • Notification:
  • Authors are notified of proposed changes and allowed to respond.
  • Readers are informed via published notices and updates to the article.

COPE Compliance:

  • JEMs strictly adheres to COPE guidelines to ensure ethical and consistent handling of corrections, retractions, and withdrawals.
