Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between big five personality traits and problem gambling severity index (PGSI), which is known to be linked to various maladaptive behaviors, such as addiction, violence, and antisocial behavior. To achieve this goal, the study utilized the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) to collect and analyze data from online stock exchange gamblers. Two models, adjusted and unadjusted, were employed to investigate the impact of personality traits on PGSI. The study findings reveal that conscientiousness has the strongest association with PGSI, whereas emotional stability and agreeableness show a weaker connection. The moderate problem gambling category was found to be the most prevalent among the participants. This study adds to the existing literature by examining the relationship between big five personality traits and PGSI among Pakistan stock exchange gamblers using TIPI.
