Abstract

As the title suggests, this article deals with marriage and the fear of being single in Pakistan. However, the institution of marriage plays a vital role in nearly all human societies. The general aim of marriage is to ensure future security and financial stability. In Pakistan, marriage is considered a life goal. This article aims to highlight the social norms related to marriage in Pakistan. The focal point of the argument is premarital issues and how these issues affect the psyche of an individual. One of the desires to marry is having socially sanctioned sex because sexual activities before marriage are not acceptable in many societies, especially in Pakistan. However, some people are single by choice, some are single because they are waiting for a compatible match, and some are single because others reject them. This paper intends to reveal that all human beings have an inherent need for intimacy and belonging and how much pressure single women face in Pakistan. The present article also highlights the reasons for marriage and the fear of being single.
